    Description

    Onkyo Integra DX-6800 CD player tested, copper chassis.
    This is one of Onkyos top-of-the-line CD players, made in November of 1990 according to the sticker on the back. This has separate transformers for the digital and analog sections, as can be seen in the pictures! It has all the top end features you would expect from a CD player of the era, including a copper plated chassis, dual transformers, optical digital out, single bit D/A converter and NEC 3011 pickup on a magnetic sled drive transport. This one does read the factory CD’s I tried in it (no tries with CDR’s), as can be seen in the picture of the display while playing. The tray loading is fast and strong, however, if you knock it and it skips, it does take a few seconds to find its place and start playing again, but it always did continue playing. So I’m sure the laser is a little weak, which is to be expected after 31 years. This was my main CD player for years, it has been in storage for years and the time has come to let it go. I don’t have the remote or transport screw, but it will be packed very securely in an appropriate box. As with all vintage electronics, this is sold as-is with no warranty and no returns.
