    Philips/Magnavox FD-1000 1st generation CD Player - near mint with original box. Condition is "Used"
    Up for sale is my Philips/Magnavox FD-1000 1st generation CD Player in near mint condition with original box and accessories. This is my first CD player, and I purchased it in 1984. It was lightly used for about 5 years and then I put it back in its original box for safe keeping. On occasion, I bring it back out to play. This time, I think I'm ready to let it go so that it can be enjoyed!
    This unit has never been serviced, it is completely original. I've connected to my main system and played the original demo CD that came with the unit (I have posted a short demo video on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeuzkLw5BlY). That is the extent of the testing that I have done.
    Stereophile reviewed this player in 1984. From that review:
    "This is the smallest and by all accounts the cutest-looking CD player yet. It has a high degree of what I call "wantability"—you just look at it and you want to take it home. It is also the most slickly packaged audio product I have seen in years. Supplied with it is an impressive-looking plastic "album" containing all the pertinent paperwork (including a block diagram of the system), which will totally bewilder anyone without a powerful technical background. I suppose its intent is to impress buyers by overwhelming them with the complexity of the thing.

    This is one little honey of a machine, sonically so good that it may be some time before it is surpassed. Since the sound is what we're after, not the operating features, this is the player on which I do most of my CD listening."
    Take a look at the photos. I believe that this is likely the cleanest, most complete example of this player to be found and I have set the Buy it Now price accordingly. Note the like new plastic "album" with all the original contents. Importantly, the transit screws are there and I will ship this unit with them installed.
    I will double box this so that the original shipping box will remain just as it is. Note: I am selling this unit as is. Please look at the photos carefully before buying or making an offer. I will gladly provide additional photos on request.
